Abstract

The text aims to contribute to educational research from a Marxist theoretical and methodological perspective. To this end, it demonstrates the ontological determinants of the educational complex, as explained by Marxist social theory, i.e., its conditioning factors in terms of historical and social materiality. Next, the text addresses the category of totality as a constituent of concrete reality and how it contributes decisively to research that aims to demonstrate the reflective articulations between different social spheres, thus avoiding partial and fragmentary approaches to reality. Finally, it is established how the concept of alienation in the context of capitalist sociability, through the alienation of labor, is also a fundamental contribution to research that aims to address the contradictions of the educational sphere and the production of scientific knowledge.
