Labor, as the foundational activity of the social being, plays a central role in the genesis and development of space. From this perspective, the text aims to broaden discussions on the ontology of space by demonstrating how techniques—rooted in labor—transformed natural space into geographic space. This field highlights how the social being, mediated by the objectifications of labor, is able to break away from the organic ontological basis and produce something new and essentially social, capable of generating material wealth not directly provided by the natural environment. Thus, the mediation of labor is understood to be responsible for the development of geographic space as an inseparable set of natural, social, and technical objects that interact with society.
